The Swine Flue

The Swine Flu is in the news these days. Here are some of the things we know (and some things we do not) about it:
  1. There is no reason to fear the Swine Flu, unless you or someone near you is known to have the infection
  2. The symptoms of the swine flu are similar to those of seasonal flu, and even the common cold
  3. The swine flu has not been shown to be deadlier than the seasonal flu. Tens of thousands of people die of ordinary flu every year. There have been only 100-200 known fatalities due to the swine flu epidemic.
  4. The likelihood of being exposed to the swine flu virus is extremely small, even if you travel to places where an outbreak has occurred
